Top 9

top9.jpg

So sitting around on the injured list is no fun, but I thought I would get in on the year end wrap ups along with all the masses. Here’s my top nine albums of 2007. Top nine? Yup - top nine cause I couldn’t think of a tenth, plus my iPod battery is dead so I can’t browse my music right now.

Avett Brothers - Emotionalism
Wilco - Blue Sky Blue
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Feist - The Reminder
Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
The National - Boxer
Iron and Wine - The Shepherds Dog
Beirut - The Flying Cup Club

Busted up

Thin coverage means thin coverage!

And so on the second ski day of the season I wreck chest first into a buried rock. I’m out of commission for a few weeks more. It’s been 3 weeks so far and I’m feeling better, but ribs are slow to heal, so I’m taking it easy for a bit more so as not to do any more damage. I’m gonna get out on the bike tomorrow - finally!

Wreck your pants like the Incredible Hulk!

Who needs wings - yikes….

The races come to town

State cyclocross championships were here in Lyons this weekend and the conditions were prime. Four inches of snow, cold temps and sunny skies. The kiddos and I checked out some of the action after a morning of turns at Eldora. Great day! (follow the link for more pics)

Kenyan running

Came across this interesting post by Malcom Gladwell regarding a recent article on Kenyan runners. The numbers are pretty amazing

“In Kenya there are probably a million schoolboys 10 to 17 years old who run 10 to 12 miles a day. . . The average Kenyan 18-year-old has run 15,000 to 18,000 more miles in his life than the average”

With those kind of numbers it goes a long way to explaining Kenyan running dominance - it’s sheer numbers.
