Contrast

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Yesterday was a very different day than today. But being back home has it’s advantages – breakfast from the kids and some nice summer skiing. Today was supposed to be a long Fathers Day ride, but as I stumbled around in a state of jet lag, procrastinating riding, an alternate plan was hatched – skiing. After a noon “snowboarder” start, we were relegated to some less committing lines as the afternoon’s thunder clouds built up. After some hiking and aimless bumbling up above tree line, we finally got in some turns. What a difference a day makes…

The hills are alive

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

The family headed up to Steamboat this weekend. The annual run was the main attraction, but I was still able to get out for a couple of rides. There’s still an amazing amount of snow up on top of Rabbit Ears pass, but our local guide was able to steer us towards some good dry rides a little lower. Lots of flowers, bugs and even saw a couple of bears out and about – not a ton of pics, too busy riding…

Even came across this old Unimog on Sunday. This would be a great bio-diesel project!

The “C” ride

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Due to a host of issues the neighborhood posse was left with the C option for a ride on Saturday, missing the local shindig. Our back up plan took us to some of fun trails to the north – Coyote Ridge, Blues Sky and Lory including a little stint on the dirt jumps/pump track. After ride festivities included empty cans and bb’s. All in all, not bad for plan “C”.

Silverton

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

This past weekend started off with some skiing Friday morning at Eldora, then progressed to Silverton for the remainder. The conditions were the full spectrum – spring corn conditions Saturday to freezing white outs on Sunday. Both days were great, involving a good amount of hiking to some lines that were a bit more off the beaten path. It was my second time skiing here and a reminder that the quality and variety of terrain is just awesome. I’ve got the bug, there’s still a few more weeks to get back down there before spring fully sets in…

Moots factory

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

While in Steamboat I got a little tour of the Moots Factory. Everyone there was super nice and happy to chat even though it was late on a Friday afternoon. It was fun to see the different steps of production and all the labor that goes into each phase. I even walked out the door with a custom spec for my dream bike – the Mooto X 29er Uno with a subtly curved top tube. If you’ve got any kind of thing for beautiful titanium and you’re in the neighborhood, I’d recommend stopping by. Here’s a couple of pics-
